The Portuguese knife brand MAM was founded in 1870 by Manuel Antonio Martins. His work at the company is now carried on by the 5th generation of the family. It is therefore a family business with a strong connection to tradition. Production takes place directly in Portugal and still involves a high proportion of handwork. Packaged in a box.
The quality of MAM knives is further underscored by the fact that the manufacturer offers a 10-year warranty on its products.
Individual manufacturing processes and certain design solutions are protected by patents. One unique feature, for example, is the folding knife lock, which is highly functional and reliable.
The steel used to manufacture the knives comes from Germany. To achieve the best possible properties, it also contains elements such as silicon, carbon, molybdenum, and vanadium. Its hardness reaches 57–59 on the Rockwell scale.
The wooden handle of the folding knives provides the user with a distinct feel that is completely different from knives with plastic handles. Beech is most commonly used for production. However, the more exotic bubinga, with its dark brown to red color, is also very popular, and smooth olive wood is also available.
