Olindo and Irma Cremonese, from Asola, Italy, moved to the foothills of the Dolomites in 1946 to build a business - initially cutting, carding and spinning woollen yarn. Eventually the business developed and by the late 1960s was producing quality underwear under the name Manifattura Valcismon.

The story of Sportful begins in 1972, when their son Giordano Cremonese was intrigued by the challenge of a new cross-country ski race, the Marcialonga, held near his home. Although he was an avid cross-country skier and athlete in general, he felt that the clothing available at the time was inadequate for such a long race in a cold valley. He set about making several of his own designs using acrylic fabrics, which were state of the art at the time, and finished the garments with a "Sportful" logo to emphasize their design and purpose.

In the past, we have been a supplier of technical clothing to some of the biggest names in sport - from Mapei & Team Italia to our current partnership with Tinkoff Saxo. In cross country we have sponsored the Italian, French, Czech, Finnish, Ukrainian and Kazakh national teams and in ski mountaineering we have sponsored the Spanish and Italian teams. We have always strived to produce the best possible products to give the top athletes a head start.
