The Recco system is a radar-based avalanche protection system that aids in the search for avalanche victims. The system, which is a fixed part of skiers' equipment or gear, consists of two parts: a detector and a reflector. The Recco detector sends out radar waves which, thanks to the reflection back from the Recco reflector, help rescuers pinpoint the exact position of the person they are looking for.
