Usage
A black insulating cap may be present on the battery inside the flashlight by default. Before first use, remove it from the battery.
Turning on/off and switching modes: White light is turned on by holding the button for 0.5 seconds; the headlamp switches to red light by quickly pressing the button twice. The power modes for the selected light color can then be switched by briefly pressing the button. The light turns off again by holding the button for 0.5 seconds.
Switching between the high beam and wide beam: Switch between the high beam and wide beam by holding the button for 1.2 seconds while the headlamp is on.
Memory for the last power mode setting: The headlamp has a memory and turns on in the last power mode setting for the respective beam, with the exception of the high beam’s Turbo mode (it always turns on in high mode).
Lock/Unlock: When the headlamp is off, quickly press the button 3 times; the headlamp will flash 4 times, indicating that it is locked. It unlocks again with three quick presses of the button; it will then flash 4 times and remain lit in Eco mode for the wide beam. Note: In the locked state, any operation other than unlocking will trigger 4 flashes to indicate that the headlamp is locked. Removing and reinserting the battery unlocks the headlamp. Accidental activation in luggage can also be prevented by loosening the headlamp’s battery cover a quarter turn; this breaks the electrical contact and prevents the headlamp from turning on.
Smart proximity sensor: The headlamp has a built-in safety circuit. When the long-range reflector is on and the headlamp approaches the illuminated object to within less than 6 cm, it automatically reduces the output to 30 lumens to prevent overheating and potential burns or damage to the illuminated object. When the headlamp moves away from the illuminated object for more than 0.8 seconds, it automatically returns to the previously used brightness mode.
Turning the proximity sensor on/off: With the headlamp off, press and hold the button for 6 seconds. The headlamp will flash twice, indicating that this feature is enabled. To turn the feature off again, press and hold the button for 6 seconds while the headlamp is off. The headlamp will flash 8 times, indicating that the feature is disabled.
Overheating Protection: Prolonged use of the headlamp in high-power modes causes a significant amount of heat to accumulate. When the headlamp reaches a temperature of 65 °C or higher, it automatically reduces output to lower the temperature. Once the temperature drops below 65 °C, the user can select high-power modes again.
Battery charge level indicator: Each time the headlamp is turned on, or when the button is pressed while the headlamp is off, the indicator LED in the button activates for three seconds:
- Solid green: 100% - 85%
- Flashing green: 85% - 50%
- Solid red: 50% - 20%
- Flashing red: 20% and below (recharge the headlamp as soon as possible)
- The indicator is active only with a rechargeable Li-ion 18650 battery.
Low battery warning: If the battery voltage drops below the set level, the headlamp automatically switches to lower power modes. If this occurs while in Low mode, the battery charge indicator will begin to flash to remind you to recharge or replace the battery in a timely manner. Note: This feature is only active with a rechargeable Li-ion 18650 battery.
Charging
Remove the dust cap and plug the USB-C charging cable into the headlamp’s charging port. Once charging is complete , replace the dust cap.
The indicator lights up red during charging. It turns green when fully charged.
The typical charging time is 2.5 hours using a 5 V/2 A USB power source for a completely discharged headlamp. The headlamp can be used while charging, but this will extend the charging time, and the available power modes depend on the current battery charge level.
Only 18650 Li-ion rechargeable batteries can be charged; do not attempt to recharge CR123A disposable batteries or 16340 rechargeable batteries.
Warning
Do not disassemble the sealed parts of the headlamp yourself; doing so will void the warranty.
We recommend using high-quality Li-ion batteries with Fenix 18650 protection electronics. 18650 Li-ion batteries are high-performance batteries and must be handled with appropriate care. The inclusion of protection circuitry reduces the risk of catastrophic failure, but Fenix is not liable for damage caused by the use of non-original batteries from other manufacturers.
Remove the battery from the headlamp if you will not be using it for an extended period or if it is discharged. Disposable batteries may leak and subsequently damage the headlamp.
Lock the headlamp or loosen the battery cover to prevent accidental activation during storage or transport.
Prolonged use may cause the O-ring to wear out. To maintain a proper waterproof seal, replace the ring with a spare.
If the headlamp flickers, does not switch to higher power modes, or does not turn on, it may be due to one of the following reasons:
- The battery is nearly dead – recharge or replace it.
- The contacts inside the flashlight are dirty – clean them with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol.
- The rear of the flashlight is loose – tighten it.
