MIPS

MIPS (Multi-Directional Impact Protection System) provides increased protection against rotational forces acting on the head. MIPS is a low-friction layer between the EPS shell (the helmet body) and the inner padding. In the event of an angled impact (for example, if your head catches on a branch), the helmet’s EPS shell can rotate a few millimetres over the MIPS layer, helping to protect the head and brain from a sudden rotational jolt.
