The original Forekaster model was designed for wet-weather XC bikes, while the new version is aimed squarely at modern trail bikes with short travel (100-130 mm) - the so-called "downcountry" segment.

The new Forekaster is meant to be a "golden tire" and rolls faster than the Minion or even the Dissector, but provides more predictable cornering, climbing and braking traction than the Aspen or Rekon.

TUBELESS READY
Tubeless tires provide many benefits to the rider: the ability to use lower air pressure, which improves traction, lower rolling resistance compared to tubed tires, and less chance of punctures because no tube is used. Tubeless tires are marked with the letters "TR" on the sidewall.
Tubeless tires must be mounted on tubeless-compatible rims and require the use of a liquid sealant to maintain pressure. Liquid sealants have the added advantage of sealing small punctures. Be sure to check the sealant periodically and renew it as needed, as it will dry out over time.
Liquid sealants should only be used in the following types of tires: tubeless road, tubeless and prepared tubeless. Use of liquid sealants in any other Maxxis tire will void the warranty.

EXO
EXO is a cut and abrasion resistant material added to the sidewalls of many Maxxis mountain bike and gravel tires. This tightly woven fabric is lightweight and highly flexible, ensuring that the performance of the tire remains unaffected. Choose EXO protection for increased durability on gravel, XC and light trail.

3C MAXXTERRA
Medium compound used on select mountain tires. The 3C MaxxTerra is softer and offers more traction than the 3C MaxxSpeed, yet provides better tread wear and less rolling resistance than the MaxxGrip.
