MAM Douro 5000 Bronze Titanium, bubinga, 7,5 cm
SN00154closing knife with safety lock
The Portuguese knife manufacturer MAM was founded in 1870 by Manuel Antonio Martins. His work in the company is now continued by the 5th generation of the family. It is therefore a family business with a strong link to tradition. Production takes place directly in Portugal and still contains a high proportion of handmade products.
The quality of MAM knives is underlined by the fact that the manufacturer offers a 10-year warranty on its products. Individual production processes and some design solutions are protected by patents. Unique, for example, is the locking mechanism of the closing knives, which is very functional and reliable.
The steel for the production of the knives comes from Germany. In order to achieve the best possible properties, it also contains elements such as silicon, carbon, molybdenum and vanadium. It has a hardness of 57-59 on the Rockwell scale.
The wooden handle of the closing knives gives the user a specific feeling in the hand, completely different from knives with a plastic handle. Beech is the most commonly used material. However, the more exotic bubinga with its dark brown to red colour is also very popular and smooth olive is also available.
