In addition to its light weight, the SG2 Tire Guard provides excellent puncture and puncture protection. This new tyre protector is lightweight and has an ultra-thin nylon liner that covers the entire tyre surface from bead to bead. So you can hit any surface without worrying about punctures.
How much more durable are the new SG2 tires? Lab tests have shown that adding SG2 protection provides 33% better sidewall protection and 17% better tread protection than standard 60 TPI tires without SG2 protection. That's why WTB has come up with a durable tire that will stand up to any surface.

TriTec
TriTec uses three rubber compounds that provide different levels of traction, support and durability depending on their location in the casing. The entire tread is supported by a base of high hard rubber that extends up to half the height of the tread lugs, allowing softer compounds to be used in the lugs without deforming them due to cornering forces. The top of the center lugs are a medium-hard compound with a durometer to provide traction and durability without compromising rolling efficiency, while the outer lugs are the softest compound for maximum grip and slow rebound.
