It's designed specifically to sit lower in the shoe, so the rugged outsole provides better grip on root-strewn trails and rocky paths. The ideal companion for lighter hikes and sporty backpacking trips. The wide version has a standard heel construction, but is wider in the forefoot and heel to provide more room for a wider forefoot.
