Fenix PD36R ACE is a high-performance pocket torch designed for demanding users who require reliable lighting in every situation. Thanks to the premium Luminus SFT-70 Gen2 LED with a lifespan of up to 50,000 hours, it delivers a dazzling output of up to 3,000 lumens and a beam distance of up to 415 metres.

The torch is made from aircraft-grade hardened aluminium with a Type III hard anodised finish, so it can withstand a drop from one metre and immersion to a depth of two metres for 30 minutes (IP68). Power is provided by a 21700 Li-ion battery with a capacity of 5,000 mAh, which can be easily recharged directly in the torch via a modern USB-C connector.

Package contents: torch, 21700 5,000 mAh battery, USB-C charging cable, belt holster, wrist lanyard, spare O-rings

Warranty: five years for the torch, two years for the battery

  1. Seven lighting modes with intelligent regulation
Fenix PD36R ACE offers a total of seven modes – from economical Eco (30 lm, runtime over 63 hours) to Turbo (3,000 lm, runtime 3 hours) – while digital regulation ensures constant brightness throughout operation and intelligent overheat protection automatically reduces output when exceeding 60 °C, keeping the torch safe and reliable at all times.
  2. Programmable presets tailored to your needs
Using the hidden SET button under the protective ring nut, you can quickly choose one of three preset profiles – tactical (Turbo only), duty (3 modes) or outdoor (5 modes) – so you can adapt the torch in moments to the specific task, whether it’s military operations, security work, or outdoor leisure activities.

Use
From the factory, there may be an insulating cover inside the torch on the battery. Before first use, remove it from the battery.
To switch on, press the tactical switch at the end of the torch; for momentary activation, half-press it. By pressing the side button near the head of the torch, you can cycle through the constant-output modes at any time during operation. To switch to strobe, hold the side button for about 0.5 seconds. Press it again to activate SOS. Hold the side button again to return to the constant-output modes. The number of modes you can cycle through depends on the selected mode preset; for example, strobe can be completely deactivated (see below).
Setting lighting mode presets - The SET function offers a choice of three lighting mode presets shown in the table below.
1. Loosen the ring nut under the head of the torch to reveal the hidden SET switch.
2. With the light switched on, press the SET switch to cycle between: Setting 1 - tactical mode (Turbo mode only) → Setting 2 - duty mode (3 modes) → Setting 3 - outdoor activities (5 modes). When the torch is switched on for the first time, Setting 3 is selected from the factory.
3. After selecting the desired preset, the corresponding indicator next to the SET button lights up green for 3 seconds to confirm the selection. This indication also shows the current number of available modes for the given Setting.
Activating and deactivating Strobe mode - With the light switched on, hold the hidden SET switch for 1.2 seconds to activate/deactivate Strobe mode in all mode presets. The torch flashes twice to confirm the selection.
Last-used output mode memory - The torch remembers the last-used output mode within the active preset. The next time it is switched on, it activates in this mode (does not apply to Strobe and SOS).
Battery replacement - Unscrew the tailcap and insert the battery with the positive pole towards the reflector. Then fully tighten the tailcap again.
Charging
1. Unscrew the protective ring nut under the head of the torch to reveal the charging port and connect the USB-C charging cable to the charging port. After charging is complete, tighten the ring nut again.
2. During charging, the indicator in the side button lights up red; when fully charged, it lights up green. During charging, the torch can be switched on and off by holding the side switch. The tail switch does not function during charging.
3. The typical charging time for a fully discharged ARB-L21-5000 V2.0 battery is about 3 hours when using a sufficiently powerful power source.
Battery charge status indication - Each time the torch is switched on, the indicator LED in the side button activates for three seconds. If the indicator diode lights green, the battery is charged to more than 85%. Green flashing means 50–85% capacity. If it lights red, it is charged to 25–50%. Red flashing indicates less than 25% battery capacity remaining.
Intelligent overheat protection - If the torch temperature exceeds 60 °C, the output will be reduced automatically. Once the temperature drops below 60 °C, the output will gradually increase again.
Low battery warning - If the voltage drops below the set level, the torch reduces brightness to a lower level. After reaching the lowest output, the battery status indicator starts flashing red to remind you to recharge or replace the battery.
Warning
Do not disassemble the sealed parts in the torch head yourself; doing so will void the warranty.
Keep the torch out of reach of children!
Do not shine the torch directly into your own eyes or anyone else’s eyes!
Loosen the tailcap by half a turn or remove the battery to prevent accidental activation during storage or transport.
Use only an original protected 21700 Li-ion battery to avoid damaging the torch.
If the protective rubber rings appear damaged after prolonged use, replace them. The rings also need to be lubricated to prevent rubber erosion. Following these rules will keep the torch properly protected against water.
If the torch flashes, does not switch to higher modes, or does not turn on, it may be due to one of the following reasons:
- The battery is nearly discharged – recharge or replace the battery.
- The contacts inside the torch are dirty – clean them with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol.
- The head, body or tail of the torch is loose – apply lubricant to the sealing rings and tighten both the head and the tail of the torch firmly.
