Tencel is a natural material, usually made from crushed wood fibres or by recycling. It has a lot in common with merino, from its high absorbency (it has twice the absorbency of cotton) to its quick drying time to its resistance to odour.

But it adds to all that softness and, above all, a cooling effect that you'll appreciate for light travel and heavy training. In short, an ideal duo that won't cause any stuffiness.
