Meet the Fenix HL17R, a compact and versatile headlamp that will impress you with its output of up to 500 lumens, a beam distance of 100 meters, and a weight of just 65 grams. Despite its minimalist dimensions, it features a built-in 1000 mAh battery that can be easily recharged directly via the USB-C port. Lighting performance is provided by a modern Luminus SST-20 LED, complemented by colored LEDs for special lighting effects and signaling.
The unique magnetic mount allows you to instantly remove the headlamp from the bracket and use it as a handheld flashlight or work light. Using the included clip, you can easily attach it to a pocket, backpack, or belt. The gesture-sensing feature allows you to turn the light on and off with a wave of your hand, so you can control it even while wearing gloves or with dirty hands. Thanks to its IP66 water resistance, reflective elements, and double elastic strap, the HL17R is the ideal companion for hikers, runners, DIY enthusiasts, and everyday use.

Usage
Turning on/off and switching modes - When the headlamp is unlocked, press and hold the main switch for 0.5 seconds to turn it on/off. The light functions of the selected lighting mode can then be switched by briefly pressing the same switch.
Switching between white light and colored light - Turn the light ring clockwise to select the lighting mode: White light → Colored light.
Lock/Unlock - With the headlamp on, turn the light ring counterclockwise (to the lock position) to lock it. Turn the light ring clockwise to unlock the headlamp and return to the previously used brightness level of the currently selected lighting mode.
Memory for the last set brightness mode - The headlamp has a memory and turns on in the last set brightness mode of the selected lighting mode.
Headlamp gesture control - With the headlamp on, press and hold the sensor switch; the headlamp will flash white three times and the gesture sensing indicator will flash blue, indicating that this feature is activated. Once this feature is activated, you can turn the headlamp on or off with a wave of your hand. With the headlamp on, press and hold the sensor switch again to deactivate this feature. Turning off or locking the headlamp deactivates the gesture sensing feature. If you want to use this feature, reactivate it after turning on the headlamp. The sensing range is approximately 10 cm in front of the headlamp and may vary slightly depending on the material and color of the object being sensed, ambient light, the selected brightness level, and the speed of the wave. The gesture sensing feature uses an infrared sensor. If an object other than your hand moves within the detection range in front of the headlamp, the headlamp may also turn on or off.
Charging - Turn off the headlamp and plug the USB-C charging cable into the charging port. The indicator lights up red during charging. It turns green when fully charged. The headlamp can be used in all modes while charging, except for the highest " " mode.
Battery Charge Level Indication - Every time the headlamp is turned on, or after pressing the button while the headlamp is off, the indicator LED activates for three seconds. If the indicator LED is green, the battery is charged to more than 85%. A green flashing light indicates 50–85% capacity. If it glows red, the battery is charged to 25–50%. A red flashing light indicates that less than 25% of the battery capacity remains.
Intelligent Overheating Protection - When using the headlamp in high-power mode, a large amount of heat accumulates. When the headlamp reaches a temperature of 60 °C or higher, it automatically reduces the output by a few lumens to lower the temperature. When the temperature drops below 60 °C, the output gradually increases again.
Low Battery Warning - If the battery voltage drops below a set level, the headlamp will gradually reduce brightness to a lower level. Once the lowest brightness level is reached, the battery status indicator will begin to flash red to remind you to recharge the battery.
Warning
Do not disassemble sealed parts yourself, as this will void the warranty.
Lock the headlamp to prevent accidental activation during storage or transport.
When storing the headlamp, check it every four months and, if necessary, recharge it to approximately 50% for optimal battery life.
If the headlamp is flashing, does not switch to higher power modes, or does not turn on, it may be due to one of the following reasons:
- The battery is dead; recharge it.
- The headlamp is locked; unlock it.
