Founded by Giancarlo Tanzi in 1975, ASOLO takes its name from the town in the north-east of Italy (near Venice) where the brand was first established.
The Asolo brand has always been a pioneer of innovation, indeed the first revolutionary idea introduced by its founder was the first mountain boot made of a combination of leather and textile (Cordura) and shortly afterwards he also introduced the first mountain boot with Gore-Tex lining - innovations that changed not only the market but also the way outdoor footwear is made.
In 1998, the Zanatta family took over the Asolo brand, precisely in keeping with their values as shoemakers, innovators and outdoor enthusiasts.
The tradition of the Zanatta shoemaking family began in 1946 when Oreste Zanatta and his wife opened a small shoe repair and distribution shop in Nervesa della Battaglia (Italy).
In the 1960s, the family business was taken over by the second generation of the Zanatta family, made up of Ambrosiano Zanatta and his brother, and the small family business became an industrial company with the foundation and management of the Tecnica Group.
In 1998 Ambrosiano sold most of his shares in Tecnica Group and the third generation of the Zanatta family, represented by Anna, Marco and Luca Zanatta, took control of the family business and bought the Asolo brand - a brand that reflected their values as high quality shoemakers.
Today, Asolo is a family business run by the Zanatta family, which now numbers four generations of shoemakers and is committed to finding the perfect blend of tradition, quality and innovation.
