Originally a Californian brand with roots in mountaineering - it has achieved cult status in the world of extreme sports.
The story of Five Ten began in Yosemite Valley in the mid-1980s, when the 5.10 difficulty level was a designation for extreme routes with maximum difficulty. Charles Cole, the founder of Five Ten and a pioneer of maximum difficulty climbing, began -in his garage- to develop outdoor shoes against slipping on near-perpendicular climbing walls. His goal was to develop boots with a special rubber compound that offered an extra portion of grip.
What started with climbing shoes has become an integral part of mountain biking. Today's mountain bike environment is no longer imaginable without the Five Ten.
