Smaller backpacks of this type have minimal weather and compression protection, but not the Variant 52! Thanks to the built-in FlapJacket, it can provide protection not only against the weather but also your gear, which is fully compressed at all times.
The twin ice-tool pouch can hold any kind of climbing axes and keeps them securely between two layers. Depending on your needs on a particular day or route, you also have the option to lighten the pack by removing the attachments from the original 1.53kg to 630g.
