The central tread section of the Byway is built for endless fast-paced adventures on paved roads, while the sidewall section with its distinctive lugs provides significant support when it comes to muddy or loose footing.
They extend into the sidewalls to increase traction in corners and add additional protection to the tread.

New WTB Tire Protection - SG2
In addition to being lightweight, the SG2 Tire Protection will provide excellent puncture and puncture protection. These tyres have a high 120 TPI value - or threads per inch - which represents the density of fibres in the tyre carcass. This new protective layer is lightweight and contains an ultra-thin nylon liner that covers the entire surface of the tire from bead to bead. So you can hit any surface without worrying about punctures.
How much more durable are the new tires with SG2? Lab tests show that the addition of SG2 protection provides 33% better sidewall protection and 17% better tread protection than standard 60 TPI tires without SG2. Gravel rides are becoming more frequent and longer. Riders won't shy away from challenging terrain. That's why WTB has come up with durable tires that will hold up on any surface.
