FENIX FD45 - focusing LED flashlight

The high-performance Fenix FD45 focusing flashlight offers up to 900 lumens (ANSI) and a range of up to 330 meters. Four AA pencil batteries are used to power the flashlight, which are placed side by side, making the length of the flashlight just over 12 inches. The light source is a state-of-the-art Cree XP-L HI diode with a warmer shade of light for more contrasting color rendition in the outdoors.

The cone width (zoom function) is controlled by turning a ring on the flashlight head with stops at each extreme position. On the narrowest setting the centre of the cone is approx. 7° wide, on the widest setting the cone is smooth with a total sweep of 94°. Despite the adjustable optics, the flashlight retains full waterproofness according to IP68 standard up to a depth of two meters underwater. Control is via a button ergonomically positioned on the side of the flashlight, which can be used to select from five continuous light modes with up to 200 hours of operation and two flash modes.

Use
Hold the side button for approximately 0.5 seconds to turn on or off. Press the side button to switch between power modes at any time during operation. To switch to flash mode, hold the side button for approximately 1.2 seconds. You can then switch between strobe and SOS with short presses of the button. To switch to steady light mode, hold the button again for 1.2 seconds. The width of the cone is controlled by turning the ring on the barrel of the flashlight. Turning counterclockwise narrows the cone, clockwise widens it. The control knob can be locked to prevent spontaneous switching on, e.g. when transporting in luggage. When switched off, press the button twice quickly (within half a second), then the lamp flashes and cannot be switched on. To unlock, press the button again twice quickly.

Intelligent overheat protection
If the temperature of the flashlight rises above 55°C, it will automatically reduce power in gradual steps until the temperature is stable. As soon as the temperature of the flashlight drops below 55°C, the power will automatically start to increase again.

Warning
Do not disassemble the sealed parts yourself, it will violate the warranty. Never use differently discharged batteries or batteries with different capacities. Always check thoroughly that the batteries are inserted into the holder with the correct polarity. Use only good quality pencil batteries to avoid damaging the flashlight, for example due to battery leakage. If the protective rubber rings appear damaged after prolonged use, replace them. The rings should also be lubricated to prevent erosion of the rubber. By following these rules, the flashlight will be properly protected against water. If the flashlight is flickering, not switching to higher modes, or not lighting up, it could be due to one of the following:
Batteries are almost dead - replace them.
Contacts inside the flashlight are dirty - clean them with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol.
Flashlight end cap is loose - tighten it.
