BC30R - Rechargeable Cycling Flashlight

The second generation of the Fenix BC30R Rechargeable Bike Flashlight delivers up to 1800 lumens (ANSI) and a range of up to 161 meters. It is powered by an internal 5200 mAh / 3.7V Li-ion battery that charges via a micro USB connector directly in the flashlight. The light source is two modern Cree XM-L2 U2 LEDs with a warmer shade of light (neutral white). The advantage of this shade of light is a more natural and contrasting colour rendering in the field.

The flashlight uses the proven "Dual Distance Beam System" light routing technology. The main cone of light is created by a specially designed optic and shines into the distance, while a secondary wide beam cone completes the optical member, which is shaped at the top so that light directed upwards refracts down to the ground. This creates a cone that continuously illuminates the entire area in front of the bicycle - even in areas not covered by conventional bicycle lights.

The remote cable switch has been improved and can now be used to switch the flashlight on, off and between power modes. The new handlebar mount design features a lighter weight and quicker installation without tools. The bracket allows for quick removal of the flashlight so it can also be used as a high-powered handheld light. The holder can be used on all handlebar diameters from 22 to 35 millimetres.

There are a total of six digitally controlled power modes, including a warning flash. There is also an informative OLED display on the bike light that shows the battery charge status, the selected mode and the remaining light time. The Fenix BC30R bike light will provide you with quality illumination for night training sessions, regular commutes and endurance races. All flashlight parameters (lumen output, battery life, waterproofing and range) are measured in accordance with ANSI/NEMA FL 1-2009.

Use
Press the top button when the flashlight is off and the display will show a four-part battery charge indicator. The flashlight turns on and off by pressing the top button for 1 second. Once the light is on, the light modes are switched by the plus and minus buttons, the flashing mode is activated by a quick double press of the top button. The display shows the number of the selected mode and the remaining illumination time. The illumination time in high mode is updated once per minute, in lower modes it is updated once every 5 minutes.
The flashlight can also be completely controlled by a wired switch. Connect the cable switch with the connector to the socket on the bottom of the flashlight. The socket is fitted with a rubber cap, which should be removed before inserting the connector. Use the Velcro on the switch to secure it to the selected location on the handlebar. The flashlight can be switched on and off by holding the button with the square symbol for about half a second. Short presses of this button can be used to cycle through the light modes (except flash mode). Holding down the button with the flash symbol activates BURST mode for a maximum of 20 seconds (while the button is held down) or the highest available mode. BURST mode can be activated even when the flashlight is switched off. If the remaining light time drops below 30 minutes, the top button will flash red. The flashlight will then gradually switch automatically to lower power modes to ensure the longest possible life. If the battery is critically low, it will switch to flash mode. In this case, we recommend that you charge the flashlight as soon as possible to prevent the protective electronics built into the batteries from shutting off the light.

Charging
Unplug the rubber cap of the micro USB connector on the bottom of the flashlight and use the included USB cable to plug it into a computer, USB AC adapter or USB car adapter. Alternatively, any mobile phone charger with a micro USB connector can be used for charging. Once plugged in, the flashlight will start charging. The display shows the battery charge status and the button flashes green. The flashlight can be used while charging, only the lowest 50 lumens mode will be available. When fully charged, the button is green and does not flash. Charging time is approximately 5 hours. The Li-ion batteries used do not suffer from memory effect, so the flashlight can be recharged at any time.

Caution
Do not disassemble the sealed parts of the flashlight yourself, it will violate the warranty. If the power button is red and cannot be switched to higher power modes, then the battery is dead and needs to be charged. If the flashlight flashes or does not light up, then the battery is dead. Charge it.
