FENIX HM51R - Rechargeable headlamp

The Fenix HM51R Ruby is a powerful rechargeable headlamp that offers up to 500 lumens (ANSI) of neutral white light (4500K) with a range of up to 85 meters, and it also features red LEDs. It is powered by a single RCR123A rechargeable battery that recharges directly in the flashlight via a micro-USB connector, alternatively a disposable CR123A lithium battery can be used for power.

In addition, the control button features an indicator LED so you will always know when to recharge the battery. The end of the flashlight is magnetic so it can easily be attached to anything metal. The HM51R has seven different lighting modes, allowing you to choose between high power and long lasting (up to 110 hours). The flashlight is powered by a digitally controlled constant current to guarantee a constant light output even when the battery voltage is reduced (when the batteries are slowly discharging).

The all-metal construction ensures high durability, optimal cooling and is also fully waterproof according to IP68 standard up to a depth of 2 meters underwater. The practicality of the headlamp is enhanced by the ability to remove the light from the head holder and use it as a small pocket flashlight. The Fenix HM51R headlamp is the ideal companion for a variety of sporting activities, trips to the outdoors and home and work.

The Fenix HM51R headlamp is a limited edition, which is based on the Fenix HM50R headlamp and offers a number of improvements. All flashlight parameters (lumen output, battery life, waterproofing, range and shock resistance) are measured in accordance with ANSI/NEMA FL 1-2009.

Use
From the factory, there may be a black insulating cap inside the flashlight on the battery. Remove it from the battery pack before first use.
1. With the headlamp off, turn it on to the last used white light mode by holding the button for 0.5 seconds.
2. Turn the headlamp off to the last used red light mode by pressing the button twice quickly.
3. A switched on headlamp is switched off by holding the button for 0.5 seconds.
While the headlamp is switched on, the power modes can be cycled through in the order of 3 - 30 - 150 - 500 lumens (when switched to white light) or red - red flash - red SOS (when switched to red light) with short button presses. The flashlight has a memory and always switches on in the last set mode (valid for both white and red light).
Battery charge indication: after a short press of the button (the headlamp must be switched off), the LED indicator in the button is activated. If the indicator LED is green, the battery is more than 85% charged. Green flashing indicates 50-85% capacity. If the light is red, the battery is 25-50% charged. Red flashing indicates less than 25% capacity remaining. The indication only works properly with RCR123A / 16340 rechargeable batteries.

Charging
Unsnap the rubber cap of the charging connector and plug the included cable into the flashlight (micro-USB connector), plug the other end of the cable into a computer, power bank or USB mains or car adapter (not included). The side button lights up red during charging and turns green when fully charged. After charging the flashlight, reseal the charging connector with the rubber cap. Charging a fully discharged battery takes approximately 1.5 hours. In an emergency, the flashlight can be used while charging, but only the lowest white mode will be available.
Discharged battery warning: if the battery voltage drops below the set level, the headlamp will automatically switch to lower power modes. If the headlamp is already switched to the lowest power mode and the battery is critically low, the indicator in the button will turn red and flash every 3 seconds. However, the headlamp will continue to illuminate until the battery is completely drained. Note: the low battery warning is calibrated to the voltage of rechargeable Li-ion batteries only.

Warning
Do not disassemble the sealed part in the head of the flashlight yourself, it will violate the warranty. If using a disposable CR123A battery, do not attempt to charge it in the flashlight. If the protective rubber rings appear damaged after prolonged use, replace them. The rings should also be lubricated to prevent erosion of the rubber. By following these rules, the flashlight will be properly protected against water. If the flashlight flickers, does not switch to higher power modes, or does not light up, it may be due to one of the following:
The battery is almost dead - charge it or replace it.
The contacts inside the flashlight are dirty - clean them with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol.
The back of the flashlight is loose - tighten it.
