FENIX LR40R - Rechargeable LED flashlight

  • FENIX LR40R Rechargeable Flashlight

The ultra-powerful Fenix LR40R Rechargeable Flashlight delivers extreme lumen output of up to 12,000 lumens (ANSI) and a range of up to 773 meters. It achieves its performance with one powerful Cree XP-L HI LED and eighteen Cree XP-G3 LEDs, which are powered by an internal 43.2 Wh high-current Li-ion battery.

The battery is recharged directly in the flashlight via a modern USB-C connector. The flashlight offers dual-button control, which separately controls the wide (11,000 lumens) and high beam (1,000 lumens) cones of light; both reflectors can also be activated simultaneously. In addition, a strobe and SOS for emergency situations are also available.

The flashlight is also equipped with indicator LEDs that show the battery charge status. In addition, the flashlight can also be used as an emergency power bank to charge other USB devices. Despite its enormous power, the flashlight retains surprisingly compact dimensions, with a length of just 15.4 centimeters and a weight of 698 grams including the battery.

This searchlight is suitable for applications such as security of large premises, service use or reconnaissance and rescue operations and for all flashlight enthusiasts. All flashlight parameters (luminous flux, battery life, waterproofness, range and shock resistance) are measured in accordance with ANSI/NEMA FL 1-2009.

Package contents: ARB-L37-12000 battery pack, USB-C charging cable, belt pouch, lanyard and replacement o-rings.

Warranty: Five years on the flashlight and two years on the battery pack.

    Use
From the factory, there may be an insulating cap on the battery. Remove it before first use. Holding the right button for about half a second will activate the high beam cone, holding the left button will activate the wide cone, both cones can also be lit simultaneously. Short presses of the individual buttons cyclically switch the power modes of the respective spotlights. The strobe is switched on by holding the left button for at least 1.2 seconds (also possible with the lamp off), another short press switches to SOS and a subsequent press returns to steady illumination. A half-second hold on one of the buttons turns off the corresponding cone. Holding the right button for 1.2 seconds will switch off both cones.
The control buttons can be locked to prevent spontaneous switching on, e.g. when transporting in luggage - in the off state press both buttons and hold them for min. 3 seconds, then the lamp will flash to indicate locking. To unlock, both buttons must be held down again for three seconds. Accidental switching on can also be prevented by loosening the flashlight body.
    Charging
Remove the rubber cap of the charging connector and plug the cable into the USB-C connector on the flashlight. The indicator LEDs will flash from left to right to show the charging status. Only the remote cone can be turned on in 50 and 150 lumen modes while charging. When charging is complete, seal the connector thoroughly with the rubber cap. Regular USB adapters and power banks can be used for charging, as well as fast charging adapters with QC3.0 and QC 2.0 protocol, which will be automatically detected. Charging time ranges from 3.3 to 12 hours depending on the power source.
Charge external USB devices (powebank function) - flip off the rubber cap of the USB connector and connect the device you want to charge with a suitable USB cable. To activate the powerbank function, briefly press one of the control buttons. Once charging has started, the indicator LEDs will flash from right to left to indicate the battery status. The maximum discharge currents are 2A. When charging is complete, be sure to properly seal the USB connector with the rubber cap.
Battery charge status indication - after briefly pressing any button, the indication LEDs will light up for 8 seconds to show the battery charge status (flashlight must be off). Four lit LEDs indicate the battery is over 80% charged, three lit 60-80%, two lit 40-60%, one lit 20-40% and one flashing LED indicates the battery is less than 20% charged. The indication is functional only with the original battery.
Intelligent overheat protection - after exceeding 65 °C, the flashlight will automatically reduce the power in small steps, after cooling down the power will increase again. Operation on the highest mode (12000 and 11000 lumens) is time limited to 2 minutes, then the flashlight will reduce the output to 6000 to 1000 lumens depending on the current temperature, operation on the 6000 lumen mode is time limited to 5 minutes, then the output will reduce to 4000 to 1500 lumens depending on the current temperature.
    Caution
Do not disassemble the sealed parts of the flashlight yourself, it will violate the warranty.
If the protective rubber rings appear damaged after extended use, replace them. The rings should also be lubricated to prevent erosion of the rubber. By following these rules, the flashlight will be properly protected against water.
If the flashlight flickers, does not switch to higher power modes or does not light up, it may be due to one of the following reasons:
If the battery is dead, charge it.
The contacts inside the flashlight are dirty - clean them with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol.
The body is loose, tighten it.
