No power is drawn in STANDBY mode. The possibility of battery corrosion and drainage is reduced. This prevents unexpected battery failure after extended periods of non-use, when normal batteries experience a draining effect.

Standard batteries in electric flashlights lose power over time, even when the flashlight is turned off. This is due to the battery not being fully disconnected from the electrical contacts with the flashlight. With Coleman's patented BatteryLock™ technology, simply rotating the flashlight body disconnects the battery contact to prevent energy loss.
