  • Giro produced the world's first aerodynamic helmet in 1985 and now sets the bar for competition once again with the Aerohead MIPS. The Aerohead MIPS is a helmet designed for triathlon and time trial. It offers a balanced balance of aerodynamics and ventilation. It also includes a ZEISS magnetic visor, offering a more aerodynamic package and the widest possible field of view compared to standard goggles. The visor can also be reversed on the helmet to store it when you don't need it (e.g. before a race). The time trial weapon of the Dimension Data, Groupama-FDJ and Direct Energie teams.

    All Giro helmets are designed to absorb as much energy as possible on impact and meet the current European standard: EN 1078. The new MIPS technology aims to eliminate the rotational forces that act on the head in the event of a crash. When hit at any angle, the MIPS system allows the EPS shell of the helmet to rotate independently around the rider's head. Although this movement is only on the order of a few millimetres, we believe that MIPS technology significantly reduces the amount of rotational force that could otherwise be transmitted to the brain.
    What is MIPS (Multidirectional Impact Protection System) and how does it work?
    MIPS is a slippery insert between the EPS shell (helmet body) and the inner liners. In the event of an angled impact (for example, if you catch your head on a branch), the EPS shell of the helmet will roll a few millimeters over the MIPS layer, protecting your head and brain from a violent rotational jerk.
