Eisbär has been making hats since the 1950s, when Maria Wöss made her first hand-knitted model and named it after her son Erich's favourite animal, the polar bear. Over the years, designs have evolved with the evolution of snow sports, from pom-poms to the unforgettable "hair caps " of the 1990s to today's designed to keep the head warm when the helmet is removed.
