RECCO® system is a radar technology based avalanche protection system and assists in finding victims in avalanches. The system, which is a fixed part of skiers' equipment or kit, consists of two parts: a detector and a reflector. The Recco detector sends out radar waves which, thanks to the reflection back from the Recco reflector, help rescuers pinpoint the exact position of the person they are looking for. This makes the Recco system very effective and nowadays often used as a complement to other rescue methods.
