PIEPS MICRO - avalanche search engine

The lightest three-antenna search engine on the market. This third-generation 'beeper' comes fresh with several major changes and brings a new perspective to the development of easy-to-use search engines. To operate the new Micro, it uses only one control button and an on/off switch.

When the search engine is switched on, the display shows a 3s countdown when the GROUP CHECK button can be held down. The search engine will then automatically switch to search mode. When the switched on Micro is placed in a case or pocket, the mode itself switches to the SEARCH mode, which is accompanied by the flashing of an orange LED. The switch is caused by the sensitive photo sensor, which is covered when stored.

When the finder is subsequently removed from the case, it again switches itself to search mode, but with the difference of locking mode. This is because if the beeper had been stored while digging up a buried victim, it would have automatically switched to broadcast mode and interfered with other devices in their search for other possible victims.

Holding the button removes the lock, and again the switching works by means of a photoelectric sensor. This brings up the question of what happens if search mode is locked and an avalanche comes. The Micro has a built-in motion sensor that automatically switches the search engine into broadcast mode after 30s of inactivity, which is accompanied by a strong tone.

Newly, the Micro also has Bluetooth connectivity, which can be used to connect the finder to a mobile app to download, for example, the latest firmware.
