The lenses balance the visible light spectrum to allow light to penetrate the eye more evenly. They keep most colors neutral while enhancing green hues; reduce glare from reflective surfaces; contrast and colors in outdoor environments are enhanced.

Advanced CAPTIVATE technology further enhances visual acuity and color perception. The human eye is not able to distinguish the entire colour spectrum. Individual colours blend together and these colour gradients (especially between blue, green and red) cause problems with visual acuity. CAPTIVATE lenses can separate these transitions and thus increase contrast and sharpness of detail.

EIGHT-LAYER LENS

For maximum eye protection and to maintain perfect sharpness and clarity of vision, Wiley X lenses are composed of a total of eight protective layers.

- FILTER 8™ - Reflections of sunlight from the water surface, as well as from other shiny surfaces (such as snow or glass), significantly increase eye fatigue, reduce visual acuity and distort vision. That's why one of the layers of Wiley X lenses is a polarizing filter - Filter 8™. This prevents reflected rays whose waves travel in the horizontal plane from reaching the eyes. These are the ones that cause unpleasant glare. At the same time, the FILTER 8™ layer prevents the passage of all harmful UV radiation, which can otherwise cause pathological changes in the retina of the eye.

- SLICK™ - Both outer layers of Wiley X lenses are made of a hydrophobic compound. This means they actively repel water and ice. Thanks to special nanotechnology, the molecules of the hydrophobic layer are non-polar and do not bind with water molecules. The water molecules are therefore forced to bond with each other. Instead of wet coating and stains on the glasses, this results in larger water droplets that quickly run down the surface of the lenses and do not distort visual acuity. Hydrophobic surfaces are also anti-static, or repel dust and other contaminants. This makes the lenses very easy to clean with the soft microfiber cloth that comes with each pair of Wiley X glasses.

- T-SHELL™ - Two extra hardened layers in the form of a flexible film protect the lenses from scratching, surface cracks or cracking. This increases the Wiley X's protection, durability and visual acuity.

- SELENITE™ - The two main protective layers of Wiley X lenses are made of polycarbonates, whose structure is made up of carbon and phenol atoms. These give the lenses up to ten times the impact resistance of conventional glass lenses. But they also have the advantage of being lightweight. The reliability and safety of Wiley X lenses is tested and certified by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). Despite their extreme strength, these lenses do not distort images or reduce optical accuracy at all angles.

- VIOLET 4™ - As light passes through the lens of the goggle, some light reflects back from the front and back of the lens causing annoying flashes that impair vision. The Violet 4™ anti-reflective coating is designed to reduce or completely cancel out these glare effects. The layer can also eliminate the brightness of light that tires and strains the eyes. This feature will be appreciated by drivers, for example, who use Wiley X glasses to get rid of glare from the sun or headlights of oncoming vehicles.

Certified to EN.166f, the glasses must withstand the impact of a 22 mm diameter, 43 g steel ball dropped from a height of 1.3 m and impacting at 18 km/h. The unbroken lens shall remain firmly seated in the frame of the spectacles and the frame shall remain intact.

ANSI HIGH VELOCITY IMPACT TEST

Goggles certified to the ANSI HIGH VELOCITY IMPACT standard must be able to withstand the impact of a 6.35 mm diameter steel ball fired at 164.6 km/h. The unbroken lens must remain firmly seated in the frame of the goggle and the frame must remain intact.

OLEOPHOBIC LAYER

Wiley X uses a patented oleophobic coating on all Captivate lenses to create a smoother lens surface that helps prevent dust, dirt, oil, snow and water from adhering. This helps prevent smudging and water spots, making the lenses much easier to clean.

CHANGEABLE LENSES - Interchangeable lenses

Different lighting conditions require different types of glasses. But as a rule, you don't always have two or three types of lenses to hand, depending on the vagaries of the weather. That's why some Wiley X models allow you to change lenses. For example, you can very easily change from light lenses with high light transmission to dark polarized lenses when the weather changes. And vice versa. The change is made by simply snapping them on. This feature does not detract from the level of durability and safety for which the glasses are certified.
